Thank you, Ingela! I am glad to hear that you can connect this analysis to what you’ve noticed about white (mis)behaviors. I think framing the problematics of whiteness as a power struggle based in the dissonance that accompanies investing in a superiority that doesn’t exist can help explain why so many white people of all genders tend to act in such cruel and unusual ways. I hope understanding where these behaviors come from helps nuance discussions about whiteness and racism with white people who are unconsciously burdened by the false superiority that white supremacy installs like a virus in each of us white folks.
